MINISTRIES’ DISPUTE IMPACTS VIEWERS WORLDWIDE
LANGLEY, B.C. (January 2, 2020) – A
dispute between two online Christian television ministries has led to
allegations of collusion and slander, creating a controversy that has affected
viewers worldwide.
Amazing Discoveries with Walter Veith, known to many as the online Christian
television ministry dedicated to exposing deceptions and errors in the
religious realm, is being accused of disseminating misinformation about Quo Vadis Ministry (QVTV), a new television ministry devoted to the Gospel, in an alleged
effort to minimize its credibility with prospective subscribers. The irony:
Quo Vadis was launched by the same people who founded Amazing
Discoveries – a fact that has reportedly been downplayed by Amazing
Discoveries. The controversy, which has
raised questions from thousands of viewers worldwide, centers around an alleged
hostile takeover of Amazing Discoveries that resulted in the expulsion of its
founders.
In a letter dated December 19, 2019 written by Lisabeth Dolwig, the
board chair for Quo Vadis, details of the separation from Amazing Discoveries
were revealed for the first time. The letter states that Wenzel and Dagmar
Goubej, the founders and creators of Amazing Discoveries, were “forced out of
their positions for reasons that have remained nebulous” and that board members
at Amazing Discoveries were “misled and encouraged to support false allegations
against the Goubejs.” The letter also
states that the same board members, representing half of the Amazing Discoveries
board, departed the ministry after disavowing their involvement with the
Goubejs expulsion.
A letter from Amazing Discoveries to
its subscriber base dated May 6, 2019 and signed by Wendy Goubej, the daughter of the Goubejs,
levelled allegations against them including innuendo that they had committed
unethical and potentially illegal activities.
Amazing Discoveries has also reportedly characterized Quo Vadis as an
apostate offshoot when receiving inquiries about the separation.
“It is the sincere hope and prayer of
those at Quo Vadis that this situation can somehow be reconciled,” says Victor
Gill, pastor and spokesperson for Quo Vadis.
Gill was formerly a veteran member of the Amazing Discoveries
board. “There have been many trials and
so much needless suffering over the course of these past three years because of
the split,” he says. “The board at Quo
Vadis felt that the time had come to speak out for the sake of the ministry’s
future and so that those who look to both ministries for hope and inspiration
can take solace in knowing that their differences were settled Biblically and
with love and compassion.”
“I want to make it clear that this is
not an effort to indict anyone at Amazing Discoveries, a ministry that many
have respected and appreciated for more than two decades,” says Gill. “Rather it’s an attempt to set the record
straight so that both ministries can continue with their respective missions
without any more rumors or accusations.”
Quo Vadis Ministry is a Christian
